Stay in touch with your incarcerated loved one.
Send text messages, photos, articles, and greeting cards to your person. Their replies come back to you as a text on your phone. No video-call booking. No per-minute rates. Just messages that move.
A text from your phone becomes a message to your person.
You send a text from your phone. We relay it through the inmate's CorrLinks account — the email system already on the inside. Their reply comes back to you as a text. No new app to install. No visit to schedule. No friend-request workaround.
Text from anywhere
Message your loved one from your phone the same way you'd text anyone else. We handle the CorrLinks handoff on both ends.
Photos, articles, greeting cards
Send family photos, news articles, song lyrics, case law, holiday cards — the things that make a day inside feel less far from home.
One account, flexible payment
Plans start at $10.99/month. Pay with a card, CashApp, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Affirm, Klarna, PayPal, or directly from an inmate account via BP-199.

I want to reach my loved one
You're the one reaching out on behalf of an incarcerated family member. Start here and we'll set up the relay for both of you.
-
1Email usSend an email to info@staycloser.org with your loved one's name, the facility they're at, and the best phone number to reach you.
-
2We confirm within 48 hoursA real person — not a bot — responds with your loved one's personal StayCloser email address, ready to add to their CorrLinks approved contacts list.
-
3Start messagingOnce your loved one sends "START" to that address, your 24-hour trial begins. First replies usually arrive within a day.
My loved one saw your flyer
Your incarcerated loved one received a Services flyer in the mail with a personal StayCloser email address printed on it. Here's what happens from there.
-
1Add the address to CorrLinksYour loved one adds their personal StayCloser email (printed on the flyer) to their CorrLinks approved-contacts list. Our side is already approved.
-
2Send "START"Once the address is approved (typically 24–48 hours), they send the word START to that address. The 24-hour free trial begins instantly.
-
3Pick a planAfter the trial, choose a plan and pay — from your inmate account via BP-199, or from a family member's card, CashApp, Affirm, and other flexible options.

Why email and not a web form? The people we built this program for — incarcerated loved ones recommending the service to other families — can't fill out web forms. Email works from CorrLinks, from a prison tablet, from a family member's phone, and from an outside advocate's laptop. One path, everyone included.
The questions we hear most often.
Is StayCloser legitimate?
Yes. StayCloser is a real, family-run communications service dedicated to one thing: helping people stay in touch with an incarcerated loved one without learning a new system. We are privately operated, based in the United States, and accountable to the families we serve.
We are not a government agency, not a vendor inside any facility, and not a replacement for CorrLinks — we're the bridge that lets a normal text message travel through it. If you ever have a question about who we are or how your account works, email info@staycloser.org and a real person will answer.
Is StayCloser affiliated with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, CorrLinks, or any facility?
No. StayCloser is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, CorrLinks, TRULINCS, Securus, GTL, or any correctional facility. We operate as a messaging relay — your incarcerated loved one voluntarily adds our email address to their CorrLinks approved-contacts list, and we carry messages back and forth the way any family member's email address would.
This is important to say out loud because plenty of companies in this space pretend otherwise. We don't.
How does my loved one know this exists?
Two common ways. One: you tell them — most families hear about us from someone else and bring the service to their person. Two: they may have received a mailer with a personal StayCloser email address and the 3-step instructions printed on it. Either path works. If you start, email us and we'll coordinate the rest with your loved one.
What does my loved one actually have to do?
Three things, once: (1) add their personal StayCloser email address to their CorrLinks approved-contacts list — this usually takes 24–48 hours for the facility to approve, (2) send the word START to that address once approved, and (3) keep CorrLinks open when they want to send or receive messages. After that, they send and receive messages through CorrLinks the normal way they send email. We handle the translation to and from your phone on our end.
How much does it cost? Are there per-message fees?
Plans start at $10.99/month. That price includes unlimited messaging, photos, articles, search requests, lyrics, case-law lookups, and access to gift ordering and greeting cards. There are no per-message surcharges on a plan.
You get a 24-hour free trial before you're charged. If you cancel during the trial, you pay nothing. Pricing may vary slightly by facility and plan length — email us for a quote specific to your situation.
How do I pay? Can the inmate pay from their own account?
Both. You can pay from any credit or debit card, CashApp, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Affirm, or Klarna. Your loved one can also pay directly from their inmate account via a BP-199 form — the standard request form for institutional disbursements. We'll walk either of you through whichever method you prefer.
What happens if a facility rejects a message or blocks our email?
Individual facilities and mailroom staff sometimes flag or reject specific messages — usually over image content, language, or incomplete approval status. When that happens, we notify you so you know the message didn't land, and either rework the content or help you escalate through the facility's mail-dispute process.
If an entire account gets blocked, we can usually re-route through a fresh email address and restart the approval step. No family has ever lost their account balance over a facility action.
Is my loved one's information kept private?
We store only what's needed to deliver your messages: your loved one's name, registration number, facility, your phone number, and the messages you and they send. We do not sell, share, or monetize contact data. Messages pass through CorrLinks, which means the BOP has access to message content through their own systems — that's not something any relay service can change. For questions about how we handle your information, email info@staycloser.org.
What about voice calls? Can I call my loved one through StayCloser?
Not today. StayCloser handles written messages, photos, and documents — the things that CorrLinks can carry. Voice and video calls still go through the facility's contracted phone-and-video vendors (typically Securus or GTL/ViaPath). We may add scheduling and call-credit support in a future release, but right now our focus is making the written side work reliably.
Ready to start?
Most families are up and running within 48 hours of reaching out. A real person reads every message to info@ and responds within one business day.
